“One big passion of my life is weather.” Commented Jennifer Ketchmark, “Since I was 16, I have been chasing storms, which looking back on now, probably wasn't the best idea with a brand new drivers license.” Jennifer Ketchmark, was born in Mattoon, IL and grew up in Sullivan making her no stranger to the area. Ketchmark has spent her life in East Central Illinois and is excited and grateful for the opportunity to work for the areas news leader, WCIA3, a station she grew up watching. Ketchmark graduated from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston with her BA in Communication Studies and a minor in Meteorological Broadcasting. She is current furthering her education with Mississippi State University for a degree in Meteorology. Ketchmark’s natural curiosity and passion for weather made broadcast television a perfect fit. Working at WEIU-TV, Eastern Illinois University’s broadcast television station, as a weather forecaster her passion began to be fulfilled. Winning the BEA National Collegiate Weather Broadcaster of the Year—2006, Ketchmark commented that presenting the weather gives her “a rush of energy and excitement,” and she enjoys how every day something can surprise you. Ketchmark’s main goal is to provide the WCIA3 viewers with a forecast they can trust, providing a place to turn when severe weather strikes. For many years WCIA3 has been East Central Illinois’ #1 choice for news and weather and Ketchmark says she hopes to bring the same quality product to viewers by providing an accurate and effective forecast. “When I think of the weather, I think of how that is going to effect the start of the day for people in Central Illinois,” Ketchmark said.
