Reported by: Jennifer Roscoe/WCIA-3 Friday, Aug 1, 2008 @04:27pm CDT When Lisa Morgan goes out to eat she brings her camera, her notebook and her tastebuds. She says she loves food and misses the restaurant business. This former restaurant worker is staying connected with her blog, http://champaign-taste.blogspot.com/. On it, she gives reviews and suggestions. Morgan says she tries to notice the things they are doing right as well as the things that are not as good. She also says there have been places she hasn't written about at all because she just couldn't find anything positive to say. She's been writing on the blog for two years. Thousands of people read what she has to say each week and they're even getting in on the action. Morgan likes that people can leave their own opinions about places on the blog. Owners are even taking notice like Mike Murphy of Murphy's Deli. He saw business boom after a good review. Murphy says he had lots of people come in and want the tomato bisque because she said she could dive into it. Some owners are even posting on the blog themselves. Morgan says owners will respond again and again, "We're working on this. We're tinkering with our recipe on that." She hopes it's good for the restaurants and patrons. There is a downside to eating as a hobby. She laughs and says she's gained a little weight since she started. |
