  • Champaign Website Gets Slick New Look
Reported by: Amanda Evans/ WCIA 3 News

CHAMPAIGN- The city of Champaign's website is going from drab to fab in hopes of enticing future workers to town. The city says it's about more than offering a job but about selling Champaign as a total package. That's really what got the ball rolling, getting qualified people from all over to give a good look at Champaign. But you've got to sell it and spicing things up on the web is the first step.
Flashy frames and a slick new look, Champaign's city website is getting a make-over.
Rob Kowalski, assistant planning director said, "This is a great way for someone who's interested in working here but doesn't know anything about the community to learn more about Champaign."
The site will give first hand accounts from people who work and live in Champaign as well as listing places to play.
The idea is working for Volition Inc, a video game designer, in downtown Champaign. Step inside and you feel the company's cool vibe but they turned to the web to attract people nationwide.
Recruiter, Kevin Fanning said, "We don't hire a lot of people locally so we're looking to bring people in from bigger cities."
On the website they sell more than the job but the city as a whole.
"We're trying to show people that it's a great place to live, a great place to own a house, raise a family," said Fanning.
The city of Champaign hopes to get the same reaction and in just a few clicks you'll see all they have to offer.
The city of Champaign is now also taking applications online,  something new they say is working.
The new website should be up in the next few months.
