Reported by: Kalee Dionne Wednesday, Jul 2, 2008 @10:14pm CDT Hundreds of people from Champaign County spent the last twelve weeks trying to "walk to the moon." The Moon Walk Race is a fun and competitive way to get healthy. The City of Peoria challenged Champaign County to participate against them and the Quad Cities to see who is the better walking community. The goal is to make two round-trips to the moon and back, which equals 954,800 miles.
This is the first year that Champaign County has participated and they had a great turn out. The final steps added up to over 300,000 miles. The winner of this years Moon Walk Race is the Quad Cities with over one million miles. |
