Reported by: Blake Wood / WCIA 3 News Thursday, May 15, 2008 @10:57pm CDT SPRINGFIELD - A Springfield tattoo artist is arrested for tattooing three teenagers without their parents consent. Police say 39-year-old Rudolpho Carlos gave the tattoos in the basement of his home on Martin Luther King Drive. Teens in the neighborhood where Carlos live say the house has become a popular spot where you don’t have to show I.D. to get "inked". Officers found out what was going on when one mom came forward. She says three of her kids all got tattoos without her knowing. Teenagers who live in the neighborhood have been hearing from their friends just how easy it is. “I was like how old do you have to be he was like there ain't no age you just give him some money and get your tattoo,” said 16-year-old Terrell Haynes. Carlos told police the father of the three teens gave them permission. Under the law prosecutors say no one under 18 can get a tattoo, no matter what. Carlos has not been officially charged, but the offense of tattooing a minor calls for up to a year in jail. |
