Thursday, Nov 19, 2009 @09:28am CST (Springfield) -- Disgraced former Governor George Ryan says he's entitled to a state pension of $60,000 dollars a year for his tenure as a county official, state legislator and lieutenant governor.
The Illinois Supreme Court heard arguments Wednesday about Ryan's pension, all of which was stripped from him three years ago in his conviction for corruption as governor and secretary of state. The 75-year-old Ryan was represented by former Governor James Thompson. He's doing time in a federal penitentiary in Terre Haute, Indiana, and is scheduled to be released in 2013. |
