The Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago held a community dinner in Bensenville, Illinois on Saturday. Religious leaders urged attendees to work together to prevent violence against local Muslims as a result of Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan's alleged rampage that killed 13 last week. Governor Pat Quinn was also in attendance and defended Muslims who serve in the military. The governor said, quote, "It doesn't matter what your last name is, when it comes to volunteering to defend America, we're all in this together." |
