(Fort Hood, TX) -- A 21-year-old soldier from suburban Bolingbrook was among the 13 people killed in Thursday's shooting rampage at Fort Hood.
Private First Class Michael Pearson, a graduate of Bolingbook High School, joined the Army slightly more than a year ago and was training to deactivate bombs.
Sheryll Pearson, the private's mother, said she last talked to her son two days ago about his return home for Christmas.
He spent most of the year training in the Mojave Desert.
