Reported by: Marissa Torres WCIA/WCFN Thursday, Nov 5, 2009 @08:14pm CST SPRINGFIELD- A string of burglaries on Springfield’s north side has neighbors locking their doors.
More than $15, 000 worth of items have been stolen, but the part that has police even more on edge—two handguns are missing. Police say so far the guns haven’t been used in a robbery, but it’s the “what-if” situation that has neighbors taking extra pre-cautions. A majority of the break-ins have been during the day and luckily no one has been hurt. Unfortunately, the time of day allowed the robbers to walk away with loads of jewelry, flat screen TVs, and other electronics. Police say it’s more than likely all of the robberies are connected. As of now, the only suspect description they have is a black man about 5’10”. Anyone with information is asked to call Sangamon/Menard County Crime Stoppers at 788-8424. |
