Reported by: Marissa Torres WCIA/WCFN Thursday, Nov 5, 2009 @08:03pm CST SPRINGFIELD- The Center for Independent Living in Springfield can breathe easier.
It had been waiting for nearly $40,000 for about 3 months. The state finally paid up this week, so now the Center can get back to its regular business hours. It had been closed every Friday for about 2 months, forcing employees to take a furlough day. The Center helps people with disabilities by offering counseling, training to promote independent living, and also help finding a job. The recent payment will get them through the month, so the Center plans to continue to the new schedule until they can no longer afford it. |
