A Woman's Place is just weeks away from closing because of a state payment backlog.

It means battered women aren't getting the help they need. A Woman's Place helps victims of domestic abuse with a place to stay, counseling, and other services.

But the shelter has been forced to turn women away every day. They don't have enough staff to opreate. That's because the state is 4 months behind on payments, and down $100,000.
