Reported by: Dave Benton / WCIA 3 Monday, Nov 2, 2009 @02:58pm CST CHAMPAIGN COUNTY - It's another daytime, rural burglary. And until these guys are caught, investigators worry someone's going to get hurt. In Crime Watch tonight, they need your help to find who ever is doing this. Homes have been hit all across the county and also in Vermilion County. A house in the 3000-block of County Road 2100 East is among the most recent. It's northeast of Rantoul. The Champaign County Sheriff's Office says it happened Wednesday, October 21st. And the bad guys made quite a haul. They got away with flat screen televisions, a video gaming system, a digital camera and a video camera. David Sherrick with the Champaign County Sheriff's Office says, "We believe the suspects are approaching other residences in the area, knocking on the door to see if someone's home and if someone answers they're making up a story as to why they're at their house." Sherrick adds, if no one answers they're going in. But he fears it's only a matter of time before these guys are surprised by someone who is home. So, the sooner they're found the better. Sherrick is recommending if someone comes to your door, try to get a description of them and maybe what kind of car they're driving. Then call Champaign County Crimestoppers at 373-TIPS. You can also send in a text tip on your cell phone or a web tip . You don't have to give your name or testify in court and a reward is offered. |
