Friday, Jan 25, 2008 @09:51am CST A "Green" dorm is on it's way for University of Illinois students.
Champaign's McKinley Foundation received a check for 100-thousand dollars today. It's from the Illinois Clean Energy Foundation. The Presbyterian Foundation is building Presby Hall a dorm that's energy efficient featuring geo-thermal heating and recycled building materials. The pastor and director of the church hopes more people will "go green." "It's the right thing to do for the world.. also when you go green the construction materials you build are post consumer recycleables so you're not chopping down new trees," Heidi Weathorford said. Weathorford say geo-thermal heating is expensive to get started.. but saves you on your heating bills down the road. Presby hall is set to open this August. |
