Wednesday, Jan 23, 2008 @02:42pm CST The new Champaign Public Library is a "Green" building.
Board members say its blueprint is eco-friendly to save on energy. The building has many windows.. Some face the sun to bring in natural light. The architect behind this project has a track record of energy-efficient buildings.. Board member Michael LaDue says going green was a design goal.. from the start. "Our concern particularly with the example of the old library that just blew fuel out every pore and window was to build the most energy efficient building possible," he says. The floors and walls are also made up of renewable sources like bamboo. |
