Reported by: Marissa Torres WCIA/MyCFN Wednesday, Sep 9, 2009 @09:52pm CDT SPRINGFIELD- A Sangamon County Grand Jury says 3 city workers are not guilty of hate crimes.
The employees had been accused of hanging nooses in CWLP facilities about a month ago.
The jury heard testimony for about 10 hours Wednesday. They decided there was insufficient evidence to charge the 3 employees with a crime. The first noose incident happened about a month and a half ago at a CWLP water purification plant. There 2 employees were accused of making the noose and hanging it. The second incident happened just a week later at a different CWLP facility. All 3 employees said the rope was just a knot and had no racial intent. |
