Reported by: Matt Franzblau/WCIA-3 Wednesday, Jan 2, 2008 @06:20pm CST Champaign police were out in full force Wednesday trying to find an elderly man who wandered off this morning. 74-year old John Roberts left his Nelson Court home sometime after 6:00. He suffers from breathing problems and dementia.
His wife says she woke up and found his tube from his breathing machine out the door as well as footprints in the snow.
"I'm worried but you know they're out there looking for him.” Says wife Jannie Roberts “I'm saying that he might be at somebody's house, I don't know."
"It's very cold.” Says Champaign Police officer Ed Wachala “We're trying to work very quickly and as hard as we can to locate him, trying to find out where he is."
Police say he may have been wearing blue jeans, a t-shirt and a tan jacket when he left. Neighbors spotted him a few blocks from his house shortly after he disappeared, but there's been no sign of him since.
