Question 5: What is Dual Enrollment?

Answer: Dual enrollment is the general name given to DACC courses taken by high school students to earn both high school and college credit. There are several forms of Dual Enrollment, but the two most popular are Transfer Track and College Express.
    1. Transfer Track is the name given to dual enrollment courses designed to transfer to a university and fulfill the general education requirements of a baccalaureate degree. The classes are generally available to high school juniors and seniors with their high school guidance counselors’ permission. These courses may be offered at the student’s high school as part of their regular academic day, or may be taken at DACC or online, as the student’s schedule allows. While tuition is waived, students are responsible for books and fees.
    2. College Express is the name given to dual enrollment courses primarily designed to fulfill an Associate (career) degree. Students enroll at their high school during their typical enrollment period. The high school provides transportation to and from the DACC campus for classes scheduled for a common block of time during the regular academic day. The classes are populated mainly by other high school students, though some traditional college students may also be enrolled. These courses are free to students as the high school pays for tuition, fees, and books and provides transportation.
