Question: What do I need to know or what information do I need before selecting a laundry set? Answer: It is best if the consumers know if they need an electric or gas dryer. Some consumers may be unaware that gas dryers have standard 110/120V electric cords on them, but they use gas to heat. Gas dryers use a flexible metal line for the gas supply. It is important for us here at Dick Van Dyke Appliance World to know if the rigid gas supply line (not the flexible line) is copper or galvanized/black pipe. We should inform you that gas dryers do not come with the flexible gas supply lines, so in most cases your existing flex line will be used or you may purchase a new flex line. Electric dryers will have a large oversized plug and outlet 220/240v. Electric dryers do not come with the electrical plug due to homes having three to four different outlets. Manufactures do not know what cord you need, so they are not included. In most cases your existing plug will be used or you may purchase a new cord. If you are selecting a frontload washer and dryer and decide to have them stacked or placed on pedestals, it will be important to measure the HxWxD of the location they are to be installed. Not all washers and dryers will be the same height. If you have limited space or have cabinets in your laundry room, you will want to measure the height from the floor to the underside lip of the cabinet, cabinet depth, and width of the space. The same is true if your washer and dryer will be placed in a closet. *NOTE- Dryer doors are design to be reversed. They come from the manufacturer with the handle on the left and open to the right. Front load washing machines come from the manufacturer with the handle on the right and they open to the left and cannot be reversed.
