Answer: There are different finishes on appliances that will give you a very similar look to stainless without the worry of fingerprints.

These alternative finishes are given different names depending on the manufacture (CleanSteel and Satina). There are also painted appliances that have a gray or silver finish and are typically referred to as Mist, Natural Silver, or Universal Silver. There are also stainless steel finishes that are coated to resist fingerprinting and are referred to as EasyCare Stainless and EZ Kleen Stainless.

-EZ Kleen & EasyCare Stainless is the closest to a typical stainless steel finish, but it does not show fingerprints.

-CleanSteel and Satina also have a similar look to that of stainless without the price. They will not show fingerprints, they will hold magnets, but they tend to have more of a brushed appearance.

-Mist, Natural Silver, or Universal Silver does not give you a true stainless look, but will give your appliance a silver color. They are typically painted appliances and are considerably less expensive than the true stainless steel alternatives. Magnets will stick to the finish and it will not show fingerprints.

If you want a true stainless steel appliance, you can use a stainless steel appliance cleaner/polisher that will remove fingerprints, dirt, shine the appliance, and place a protective coating on the appliance to resist fingerprinting. Overtime the coating will wear down, but as you clean your appliance it will renew the protective coating and resist fingerprinting.
